Bestech (Pty) Ltd, a South African leading supplier of quality, safety and comfort automotive accessories, has been selected by BBSTelematics (Pty) Ltd, a South African Telematics & EV platform provider, as their speed controller partner.

BBST MSc Student submits conference paper of SOC estimation

As part of our overall EV Fleet management solutions and supply activities, we also support MSc students whose focus is on adding to the battery knowledge base.

State of Charge (SOC) of a battery is a key indicator used by fleets to manage their vehicles and charging sessions. The more accurate the SOC can be determined will enable more effective fleet management.

Our MSC student, Francis, has completed their review and published a paper called “Accurate State of Charge Estimation for Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Cell using Equivalent Circuit Model, Parameter Tuning and Unscented Kalman Filter” to be presented at CEEPE2022, and submitted to 2022 Texas Power and Energy Conference and 2022 International Conference on Energy, Electrical and Power Engineering.

The approach will enable Battery Management Systems to be more accurately report on SOC.

Read about our Nigeria distributor Burnsley Technologies  on the work they are doing supporting fleet operators.

“Call Bob Nigeria” in collaboration with Burnsley Technologies Limited came up with fleet management solution, drivers improvement device, which we now installed in these vehicles so that in real time, we know where the vehicles were, how to intervene or make replacement of a vehicle, etc.

Another area is our technology can also be extended to fleet owners. With Covid-19 and the insecurity that may come, the strategy is useful; in case of accidents, hijack, diversion, etc. We have also intervened for other vehicles with technology. Our camera-based technology can give analysis of what actually happened. It is developed by our Nigerian technologists in partnership with those from Morocco and South Africa.

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak continues to evolve, BBSTelematics actively monitors the situation and will continue to manage its response accordingly and under guidance from relevant local public health authorities in countries in which we operate.

 The South Africa President has  announced that  the nationwide total lock down will continue for a further 2 weeks until April 30th, make the total lock down period 5 weeks. 

This means that all non-essential business must close and people are ordered to stay at home. People can only leave home to get food (no more than twice a week) or to obtain medicine.

BBSTelematics team is working from home for the foreseeable future. We will continue to support our customers using our remote cloud based tools. We will continue working with our worldwide suppliers of technologies and solutions to add to our fleet management portfolio so we can support our customers prepare for when sanctions are lifted and businesses can restart.
